My Projects....continued

So I have been building a set of dressers, 3 to be in fact.  They are coming along quite nicely, atleast I think so :-)

I choose a black cherry stain ( when I first put it on it looked purple and I was worried ).  When dried it looks great, I completely love it!!

Then comes varnishing.  I originally tried a clear satin on a dresser, but then I decided to try a little more shiny and went with a semi-gloss.  The semi-gloss won.  I like the shine, it gives it a little pizzazz.  Varnishing takes awhile; coat, let it dry, sand, wipe, coat, let it dry, sand, wipe. You get the picture.  I ended up only doing three coats, I've heard that some go up to like 10 or more...I liked 3.

Finally done with varnishing and now it is putting together the drawers!!
Coach's drawers

For my drawers I went with a metal glide system.  I lose some space, but it is worth it.  Especially since my dressers with the wood and rubber glide sysyem are falling apart and I want these to last!

I ran out of plywood so this is as far as I have gotten....

Not to shabby, and they are even sturdy!

My other project I've been working on is this guy.  This is Big T's piggy bank, well it will be soon (hopefully).  I bought this before he turned one and it was going to be a birthday gift, but I never got it painted.  I finally started painting on it.  I'm no great painter, in fact I'm terrible and I've been half tempted to have my mom paint it.  She rocks at painting!
But I decided I want to be gutsy and paint this piggy!  I still might have my mommy do the eyes though.

Stopping and Smelling the Daisies

I have a tendency to not always live in the moment.  I seem to wait for things to happen and miss out on what is already happening around me.  I hate that I have been that way, but I have officially made up my mind to not wait around for great moments, but to find greatness in the everyday small moments!!

Tuesday morning I found my destructive sweet boy up to no good.  I was a little shocked and had a moment where I thought it would be best to discipline right away, I decided to slip away, since I wasn't noticed yet, and grab my camera.  It wasn't a life or death situation and rather comical.

First, I put the Dawn on the Mousepad .....
Make sure it has enough on it...
Then I rub the mousepad on the hair...
Finally I make sure it is soaked in good!

Another great moment this week was when  Big T and I walked to the mailbox and stopped at the ditch to throw some rocks in and to smell the Daisies! Or pull the daisies tops off the stems and throw them into the water. The truth is I hadn't really noticed the daisies before, they are just barely below the road, but I always buzzed on by not appreciating their charm.
Big T did leave me some to photograph :-)  I feel like I can relate to daisies;  Simple, Wild, Country and if I dare say a small amount of Beauty and Charm.

I had to document the huge "No-No" known worldwide.  Socks and sandals!
Big T has already become a little independent on what he wants to wear.  Yesterday he wore two shirts.  And I'm not sure why he gives this gorilla face so often?

 "All done Mommy"

Well Just one more...
I Love this Photograph!  It is crazy that just tiny sprinkles of water come out, but there is millions of them in a given period and the end result is green grass!  Millions of sometimes thought of as insignificant moments make up our "green" rich life!!

Summer Time Fun...with some not so fun

Totally have been slacking here, I have been taking pictures, but then I don't do anything with them.  So this is a little delayed, but better late than never...right Coach?!?!

So Big T loves walking to the Park...Loves It!!   Then we swing forever until sometimes he is sleeping..silly boy :-)  Then of course we play on the jungle gym, but never do we go down the slide at this park...he refuses.

Of Course you have to play in the water when it is summer time!!  He loves the water, as long as it doesn't get sprayed in his face (kinda a whimp that way)

Oh the Ducks!! My little man loves animals, so any opportunity to see and interact with them, he is all about it!

Now the Not so Fun....
Big T needed a haircut really bad so when we got to my parents we gave him a Haircut.
It was kinda funny, as I was buzzing him, he kept saying "It's Broken!!" as he was bawling,
and kept saying "all done!!" But he Looks all grown up :-)

And last...My family went camping over the fourth and we brought up the bikes, and after I gave Big T a ride I put him down and we both started walking away, but he didn't want to get off and walked back to the bike and grabbed the exhaust pipe!  We were both crying this time.

This photo is of the hand after a couple of days, The huge blister popped :-(

He was a real trooper!!
